Swiss You're welcome The young spoilt Scrottes are only worried about the travel aspect. If the lazy little cunts worked the farms in the summer holidays..we wouldnt require the foreigners to do it.

You may be right, can't remember where I saw these stats, but I can't imagine who else in Europe buys potatoes and peat.
Either way, we have massive ties with Ireland and should do everything we can to help each other.

I realised you were only half serious mate but it's one of a number of interesting things to flow from this.
Irish politicians will have to balance not stirring things up with the UK, appearing favourable to unification (irrespective of how realistic it's already a topic as we can all see for ourselves), while all the while really thinking 'fuck that' for the very valid 9-12 billion reasons Irish refers to.

I agree - I was being a tad tounge-in-cheek there, but you never know: some dumb-fuck attention-seeking career politician might now take it on as a flagship "look how the EU brings, through integration, peace where there was none" strategy.
Job for the EU Army, I suspect. Oh, wait...

You could always apply to the EU for a grant to build a high-tech canal between the north & south - about 12 miles wide should do it.
We would, but we can't.

A whole other topic but I think Irish has a point: who'd want to take on that hornet's nest and all the associated bollocks ? I'm sure they'll quite happily leave that to the UK with a big 'yours'.

riosleftsock,
60% of Irish trade is with the EU, I think about 16% is with the UK (from memory). IIRC, it's a lot higher for certain sectors, eg food/agriculture.
There's a lot of scaremongering about all this by Irish politicians/media (similar kind of stuff to what the brexiteers have been accusing the remainers of), but I see no logic in that at all. The UK and Ireland had a relationship long before either was in the EU and have every reason to continue trading.
Meanwhile, Ireland now becomes even more attractive in terms of inward investment as a low tax, low regulation (well, relatively), genuinely English speaking destination.
